11am: “Family Fun Concert, in Costume!” $5 admission, all ages. Feel free to come in costume (or not)! Face painting and other family-friendly activities before the show, 10:30am-11am.
7:30pm: “From Tragedy to Triumph” (traditional full-length concert) $10/general; $8/senior; $5/student
The Shasta Symphony Orchestra will present a fall double-header on Saturday October 28th in the Shasta College Theater. A kid-friendly Family Concert will be first, from 11-11:45am; the orchestra will be in costume, and you are welcome to come sporting your favorite costume as well, as you enjoy a wide variety of music from films, ballets, and more, as well as witness the amazing talent of Alaskan violinist Bryan Hall.
At 7:30 pm, the orchestra will return for a formal concert, entitled “From Tragedy to Triumph,” featuring Brahms’ dramatic Tragic Overture and Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty Suite. On the second half of the concert, Bryan Hall will be the violin soloist on Philip Glass’s masterful First Violin Concerto, which will appeal to lovers of classical and popular music alike.
